Q&A with Jade Winters

July 12, 2017 Leave your thoughts

Q. Why did you write, Me To You?

A. I fell in love with the cover of the book and I was trying to think of a romance storyline that would convey the right message. As always the idea came out of the blue while I was binging on The Good Witch (Netflix – loved this show!). I hadn’t even given fantasy a second thought but I found the mystery of the unknown contagious. So I decided to write something witchy but my knowledge of the supernatural/fantasy genre is zero, so I wrote a story that touched on the matter without delving to deeply into it. If you decide to read it, you’ll see what I mean.

Q. How long did the story take you to write from start to finish?

A. Around a week. Funnily enough I always thought short stories would be quick and easy to write. How wrong was I? It’s pretty challenging (for me anyway) to tell a complete story in say twelve thousand words.

Q. Why did you start the romance bites series?

A. Let’s face it, not everyone enjoys reading novels but if pushed, they can just about tolerate bite-sized stories, ones that won’t take too long to read. My reason for publishing short stories is to give readers who just don’t have the time to read a novel, a taste of romance.

Q. What novel are you currently writing and what’s it about?

A. I’ve nearly finished my romance, Starting Over Again. I love writing about lovers that reconnect at different times in their lives. Starting Over Again is a heart wrenching story about two young teenagers whose lives are torn apart through no fault of their own. They meet eighteen years later and work to overcome the obstacles that caused them to part in the first place.

Q. Is writing your sole career?

A. Yes it is. I am eternally grateful that I get to do what I love for a living (though it doesn’t feel like that when I over do it, my hands ache, writer’s block hits me and I can barely think of a sentence to write).

Q. Do you choose your own book covers?

A. Absolutely! I’ll let you into a little secret here, I use the cover and title as a inspiration for my novels.

Q. What books have influenced you the most?

A. I would have to say psychological thrillers, hence the reason why my books sometimes carry a dark undertone. Why people do the things they do fascinates me.

Q. Who is your publisher and why did you choose them?

A. I chose to self-publish with Amazon because I have control of the publishing process from start to finish. While I have nothing against Traditional publishing, I really don’t have the patience to wait months and months to see the fruits of my labour finally getting into readers’ hands.
